Meet Tara Lester – Olive Oil Dispensary

To celebrate International Women’s Day the Aldershot Village BIA is shining a light on some of our Women owned businesses along Plains Road. It is a day to celebrate women’s achievement, raise awareness about discrimination and take action to drive gender parity.

We are thrilled that this group of women owned and operated businesses have chosen Aldershot for their business. They are mentors, change-makers, trailblazers and community givers.

What brought you and your business to Aldershot and Plains Road?

I was very fortunate to purchase an already existing business. The Olive Oil Dispensary had relocated to Aldershot about 3 years ago from downtown. I could not be happier with the location.

Do you have a female mentor or partnership and what has that relationship meant to you?

My female mentor is my mother, Barbara Lester. My mother was the first woman I knew to run her own small business. This relationship has shown me that I can follow my dreams. With the knowledge that others who have come before me and who have endured more obstacles than I ever have, strive and succeeded in running their own businesses.

Do you have any advice for the younger generation of women coming up as entrepreneurs and small business owners?

Just do it. Don’t let fear stop you. If you are lucky enough to find your passion then go for it. There are so many wonderful services and resources in Aldershot to help you with anything you might need. Connect with other women business owners, ask questions and remember it is ok to ask for help.

Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality. Collectively we can all #EmbraceEquity.
