Today We Celebrate Oby from Plains Road Pharmasave

This International Women’s Day, we are proud to celebrate Oby, owner of Plains Road Pharmasave — a woman whose leadership, compassion, and commitment to service have made a lasting impact in the Aldershot community.

Inspired by Community

When asked what inspired her to start her business in Aldershot, Oby’s answer is simple and heartfelt: the people.

She was drawn to the area because of the genuine, friendly disposition of the community. That warmth has shaped the way Plains Road Pharmasave operates from day one.

“All these years, we’ve served the Aldershot community with lots of smiles because of that,” she shares.

Often, their relationship with a family begins with just one person — referred by another happy client. Over time, that connection grows. More family members come in, then in-laws, and before long, the entire family is registered at the pharmacy. Watching those relationships expand and deepen is one of the most rewarding parts of the work.

Oby and her team are forever grateful for the trust and love the community shows them — a trust that inspires them to go the extra mile in every aspect of their service.

Recently, the opening of Plains Rd West Medical Clinic, now accepting patients for Family Practice and Walk-in services, has strengthened healthcare access in the area even further — something Oby is proud to see in the community she serves.

Supporting and Connecting — Every Day

This year’s International Women’s Day theme highlights support and connection — values that are deeply embedded in how Plains Road Pharmasave operates.

The pharmacy runs a Seniors Day program every Tuesday, offering seniors 20% off front store purchases. They also partner with the Air Miles rewards program, allowing patients to accumulate redeemable points to use toward travel and everyday spending.

But beyond programs and promotions, it’s the moments of crisis that truly define a community business.

In Fall 2023, when RSV spread rapidly through Aldershot, families were struggling. Children were experiencing high fevers, ICUs were filled, and essential medications like Tylenol, Advil, and antibiotics were unavailable.

During that time, Plains Road Pharmasave’s Compounding Pharmacy became a critical resource. The team stepped in to compound much-needed medications for children and families when traditional supply chains fell short.

“We are very grateful to have been there for them at such a time,” Oby says.

Overcoming Challenges with Purpose

Opening a business just before a global pandemic would test any entrepreneur. For Oby, it meant stepping into one of the most challenging healthcare periods in modern history.

With COVID-19 spreading rapidly and lives being lost, she recognized the urgent need to help the community achieve herd immunity as early as possible. Plains Road Pharmasave worked closely with the Ministry of Health and vaccinated thousands of Aldershot residents against COVID-19.

The commitment didn’t stop there. The pharmacy continues to provide annual flu shots, COVID-19 boosters, travel vaccines, and walk-in immunization services — ensuring individuals and families have access to the protection they need.

Through uncertainty and loss, Oby and her team remained steady — guided by service and responsibility to their neighbours.

A Meaningful Role in the Aldershot Business Community

Being part of the Aldershot business community has created countless opportunities for meaningful engagement. For Oby, it’s about more than transactions — it’s about lifelong connections with the families they serve.

Pharmacy work requires deep confidentiality and strong ethical standards. These are values she holds in the highest regard. Every patient interaction is treated with care, discretion, and respect.

It’s this quiet integrity that has built lasting trust.

Advice for Women Entrepreneurs

When asked what advice she would give to another woman thinking about starting a business in Aldershot, Oby’s response reflects the heart behind her success:

“Have the heart of a servant. Be willing to help. Be empathetic in dealing with each individual. They could be your mum, dad, sister, nephew, niece. Each person deserves a little bit of kindness. Be confident in what you know and deliver your service with compassion.”

On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate Oby — not only as a business owner, but as a leader who embodies service, resilience, and compassion.

Aldershot is stronger because of women like her.
