Meet Dr. Inge Scharge – Aldershot Dental Care

To celebrate International Women’s Day the Aldershot Village BIA is shining a light on some of our Women owned businesses along Plains Road. It is a day to celebrate women’s achievement, raise awareness about discrimination and take action to drive gender parity.

We are thrilled that this group of women owned and operated businesses have chosen Aldershot for their business. They are mentors, change-makers, trailblazers and community givers.

What brought you and your business to Aldershot and Plains Road?

I spent considerable time researching where to open my dental practice.  When I found Aldershot I knew it was a community that I wanted to be a part of. Volunteering is a way to give back to the wonderful community that has given so much to me. It rewards me by allowing me to be informed and involved with important events in our community.

Do you have a female mentor or partnership and what has that relationship meant to you?

During a time when men dominated the dental field, my dentist throughout childhood and early adulthood was female. I consulted with her and spent time in her office before deciding to pursue a career in dentistry.

Like many women, my mom has always been a mentor to me.  I strive to follow her example of living each day to its fullest with a mixture of work and play including physical activity.    I am still trying to be as optimistic as she is!

Do you have any advice for the younger generation of women coming up as entrepreneurs and small business owners?

My advice would be to take good care of yourself because you will be of most help to others if you are mentally and physically well.  Sleep, healthy diet, exercise and stress management will provide the foundation for a productive and fulfilling life.

Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality. Collectively we can all #EmbraceEquity.
