Meet Amanda, of Lunula Self Care Studio in Aldershot. Built around the idea that self-care should feel welcoming and accessible to everyone, Lunula offers manicures, pedicures, lashes, and waxing in a thoughtfully designed space focused on comfort, inclusion, and high standards.
Amanda has created a studio where clients can enjoy services that align with their values, using non-toxic, certified organic, and cruelty-free products in a properly ventilated environment. From adaptive service areas for guests with mobility challenges or chronic pain to a workplace culture rooted in fairness and support, every detail at Lunula reflects a people-first approach.
We asked Amanda a few questions to learn more about her story, what inspired Lunula, and what makes the studio unique in Aldershot.
Why did you choose Aldershot for your business?

Aldershot is the perfect place for Lunula to put down roots because it reflects everything we value: accessibility, connection, and community.

With access to public transit, ample accessible parking, and a space that allowed us to thoughtfully create both an accessible beauty studio and community gathering place, Aldershot felt like the natural fit.

What sets you apart from all the rest?

What sets Lunula apart is our commitment to conscious beauty, accessibility, community, and elevated care.

Lunula was created to address a gap in the beauty industry by providing a welcoming space for individuals with mobility and accessibility challenges. My mom, Brenda, was diagnosed with a degenerative disease later in life that impacted her ability to move freely through the world. My sister and I witnessed firsthand the barriers people face when spaces are not designed for everyone.

With the love and support of our family and friends, we created a fully accessible studio where every guest feels welcome and comfortable.

Our mom also had a strong appreciation for community, health, and wellness. In her honour, we prioritize low-toxicity, certified organic, and cruelty-free products from women-owned companies. We have invested in clean ventilation, thoughtfully spaced seating, and services designed to support overall well-being.

Our pricing, product selection, and physical space are all created with accessibility in mind. Lunula is fully wheelchair accessible and features adaptive service areas and furniture designed to support guests with mobility challenges or chronic pain.

What is your specialty product or service?

Lunula services are different because we focus on both beauty and well-being. Every service is designed with nail and skin health, comfort, cleanliness, and long-term care in mind, not just quick results.

We specialize in Dry European Manicures, an advanced waterless technique that provides precise cuticle work, healthier nail retention, and a longer-lasting finish.

We also pay special attention to allergies and individual concerns. Every service begins with a consultation to discuss allergies, goals, and areas of concern related to nail and skin health. We proudly offer nut- and seed-free product options to support guests with sensitivities and allergies.

What do you love about Aldershot and what is YOUR favourite business to visit in our BIA?

Aldershot has embraced Lunula from day one. The support from our neighbours—Allen and Claire at FPS Burlington, the team at El Nino, Fred Kinsley Goldsmith, Susan at Sun Country, the team at Salon 360, and everyone throughout the Plains Road business community—has been incredible.

We’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with Jo from MD Laser, working with DeeSigns, making countless coffee and snack runs to Peach Coffee, and enjoying many meals from West Plains Bistro.

Our stunning back mural was created by Mike, Mr. Spray Art. Walking through our back door and seeing it each day helps us set our intentions and reminds us of the creativity that surrounds us.

Many of these relationships would not have been possible without the Aldershot Village BIA. Thank you to Krista and Andrea for welcoming us and keeping us connected to all the incredible events and activities in the Aldershot community.

What would you like the Aldershot community to know about you and your business?

At Lunula, we’re creating more than a beauty studio. We are building a welcoming community space rooted in connection, inclusivity, and care.

Each month, we host workshops and events that showcase talented local artists, wellness practitioners, and entrepreneurs from our community and beyond.

Our doors are always open. Whether you’re visiting for a service, attending a workshop, or simply stopping in to say hello, we’d love to meet you. Some of my most favourite moments at Lunula are the conversations that allow me to learn more about the incredible people who make Aldershot such a special place to call home.

Amanda and her team at Lunula Self Care Studio have created a welcoming space where clients can relax, feel cared for, and enjoy thoughtful self-care services in a comfortable and inclusive environment.
