People on Plains Blog Series – Meet Jacqui from The Platter Company!
We asked Jacqui a few questions to learn some history and to get to know her business better.
Why did you choose Aldershot for your business?
I felt Aldershot was perfect for my business as it has so many arteries around it. Downtown core as our neighbour, Waterdown, Hamilton and just off the highway from Oakville! The growth of Aldershot may not make some folks happy but we see it as new people to meet and new customers to feed :-).
What sets you apart from all the rest?
We are all a team that believes in what we do. Whether it is front or back of house we all share the same goal. Beautifully presented and delicious tasting food that we are proud of making, selling and having the client bring home. The Platter Company isn’t one person, it is a company of dedicated foodies who share the same passion and desire to please! We don’t just splat things together to get it out the door. There is a lot of love and care that goes into EVERYTHING we make and do.
What is your specialty product or service?
I’d love to say everything is our speciality but you probably won’t believe that! Our charcuterie boards are gorgeous! Our prepared meals are made in small batches and people come back for seconds so I think we are doing something right!
What do you love about Aldershot and what is YOUR favourite business to visit in our BIA?
Pre-pandemic days if I was asked that question, I would have said, well, I love that I am not so far from my home lol. But I can honestly say, what I love about Aldershot is the people. The true sense of community that gripped me to my core through every stage of Covid, brought tears to my eyes daily when they came and said we want you here. We need you here, and we will support you through this crisis. It was something I will NEVER forget, and something that has significantly changed me as a person and as a small business owner.
My fav place to visit would be, gosh that is a tough one. I love my neighbours TurtleDoves and J&G Meats! Followed by Subway when I just don’t want to cook anymore LOL. They make me a great chopped salad for me even when its not on the new menu.
What would you like the Aldershot community to know about you and your business.
First and foremost I want the Aldershot community to know how thankful I am to have their support through Covid and beyond. The fact that I was able to completely change my catering business to a Gourmet Market is not lost on me and that I could not have done it without them. It truly takes a Village, and this girl is beyond grateful for her Aldershot Village. Our Market is your market and we hope we are doing you proud!
