Meet Dr. Rasha – Aldershot Village Dental
To celebrate International Women’s Day the Aldershot Village BIA is shining a light on some of our Women owned businesses along Plains Road. It is a day to celebrate women’s achievement, raise awareness about discrimination and take action to drive gender parity.
We are thrilled that this group of women owned and operated businesses have chosen Aldershot for their business. They are mentors, change-makers, trailblazers and community givers.
What brought you and your business to Aldershot and Plains Road?
I was searching for a community that’s similar to something we grew into in the past, somewhere were people know each other & closely bound to each other, new families coming from the city into an area still holding onto old good values of what it means to have neighbours. I find Aldershot represents that sense of unity that I am now proud to be part of.
Do you have a female mentor or partnership and what has that relationship meant to you?
Definitely, my late older sister Abeer (worked as a play therapist for cancer children) who instilled in me the thought of “putting yourself to the service of others and elevate the purpose of having a job, you have a mission now that keeps you passionate to pursue every morning and that is helping others and restoring wellness and smiles for that we are part of this great universe, so let’s raise the bar, be role models for our children and leave a positive imprint before leaving!”
Abeer’s legacy continues in our office as some income goes monthly to sick kids’ hospital on behalf of her beautiful soul.
Do you have any advice for the younger generation of women coming up as entrepreneurs and small business owners?
The sky is not the limit. Envision the final picture then move towards your goals with planning and dedication. Mistakes are great opportunities for growth. We never make it alone, having a mentor can restore your faith when encountering a setback. Women can raise a family while being professionals!
Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality. Collectively we can all #EmbraceEquity.
