People on Plains – Blog Series – Meet Lori Desjardine from Pillars of Wellness!
We asked Lori a few questions to get to know her and her business better.
Why did you choose Aldershot for your business?
There are a couple of reasons we choose to open our clinic in Aldershot. The first is the maturity of this community and neighbourhood. Aldershot has maintained its charm over the years and has managed to maintain that “small town/community” feel. There is a reason why people have lived in Aldershot for so long, and that speaks volume to us. The second is the premise of what Aldershot is going to become. The new developments that have started and the future plans are very exciting for small businesses and show a lot of promise as an up and coming neighbourhood.
What sets you apart from all the rest?
Most private clinics in Burlington provide great services overall. A lot of practitioners have a passion to help others and it shows in the care they provide. What sets us apart is our vision and how we put it all together. Pillars of Wellness is a truly integrated care clinic in which health and wellness come together. With that, our strength is the strong collaboration among our practitioners. It reduces the redundancy of care and optimizes the recovery process. People can access a number of services all under one roof.
Here is an example, let’s say someone comes to our clinic with a head injury. Instead of focusing solely on the Physical rehabilitation of those symptoms, we are going to look at the person as a whole and identify if there are other areas that need to be addressed. Oftentimes, people also need occupational therapy support as well as mental health support. If that’s the case, our counsellor, occupational therapist and physiotherapist will work together and design a plan of care that will encompass all the areas needed for a full recovery.
What is your specialty product or service?
We have incorporated a number of healthcare services in one location, which is not common in most clinics. Our services include physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, counselling, naturopathy, chiropractic, acupuncture and yoga therapy. In addition, many of our practitioners have specialized training in specific areas, allowing them to provide enhanced services. As an example, our physiotherapy services include pediatric, neuro rehabilitation, pelvic health and orthopedic. By widening our services and specialities, we offer our clients a one-stop health solution under one roof. From birth to older adults, we are able to support people through their lifespan.
What do you love about Aldershot and what is YOUR favourite business to visit in our BIA?
We love the sense of community. As mentioned earlier, Aldershot has been around for a long time and as to what is OUR favourite business to visit? We don’t have one in particular but a few I would say: Russel Williams for example is one of them, then the Platter Company and Turtle Doves. We enjoy ordering their yummy sandwiches and desserts whenever we organize staff events. We also order our inks from Redline Office Solutions. They are amazing! The best customer service hands down.
What would you like the Aldershot community to know about you and your business?
We are passionate in what we do and above all else, we love to serve our community by providing the best care possible. We thrive to be innovative and provide sound evidence based practices for our clients. Our team is dedicated to helping others in the best possible way. Don’t be shy to drop in and ask for a free 20 minutes consultation with one of our health professionals. If we can’t help you, then we will help you find someone who can!
Thanks for having us Lori!
